Eine vertiefte Betrachtung der bislang untersuchten Urbanen Optionsflächen dient dazu, konzeptionelle Grundlagen für IBA Labs zu formulieren. Hierbei werden verschiedene Szenarien entwickelt und als Handlungsprotokolle ausgearbeitet, um mögliche Entwicklungspfade und Nutzungsstrategien im Rahmen der IBA Berlin 2034/37 aufzuzeigen. Dabei spielen sowohl städtebauliche als auch gesellschaftliche, kulturelle, ökonomische und ökologische Aspekte eine zentrale Rolle.

Ideen Wettbewerb Tempelhofer Feld

Im Dezember 2024 hat die Berliner Senatsverwaltung für Stadtentwicklung einen Ideenwettbewerb für die Umgestaltung des Tempelhofer Felds ausgerufen. Mit diesem Wettbewerb sollte die Diskussion über die Zukunft des Tempelhofer Felds und seine Rolle in der Stadt neu eröffnet werden. Es geht dabei auch um die Frage, ob das Feld, das seit 2014 per Referendum als öffentlicher Freiraum definiert wurde, für Entwicklungen, die im Tempelhof Gesetz verboten sind, geöffnet werden soll. Dazu gehören bauliche Nutzungen und mögliche (Teil-) privatisierungen. Ein breit aufgestellter Partizipationsprozess hat den Bürger*innenwillen bekräftigt: das Feld soll nicht bebaut werden. Seit der Öffnung des Felds 2010 hat sich ein fantastisches Ökosystem der urbanen Praxis gebildet, das gut vernetzt, stark verwurzelt und mit überregionaler Beachtung den Ort zum Experimentierfeld für sozial-ökologisch-künstlerische Praxis verwandelt hat. Das, was hier in den vergangenen 15 Jahren gewachsen ist, ist nicht mehr wegzudenken aus der Stadt.

Zur Wiedereröffnung vom Haus der Kulturen der Welt HKW im Berliner Tiergarten stellt das neue Team eine jährliche Serie von Pavillons vor. Als Ort für spontane Begegnungen im Park sowie als Plattform für geplante Veranstaltungen und Gespräche aktiviert der Pavilion die Außenflächen vor dem HKW. Auf der öffentlichen Rasenfläche vor dem Museum bietet der dreieckige Pavillon den BesucherInnen offenen Zugang von allen Seiten.

Deep Encounter

Deep Encounter is a floating pavilion built for the biennale "sonsbeek20→24: force times distance ⏤ on labour and its sonic ecologies". It serves as a social gathering space and seeks to give equal consideration to both humans and nature in the park. The floating pavilion exists in nature but outside of its rules. Aside from the fact that it floats, the pavilion takes on a very artificial character. The round polygon shape of the Pavilion, a crystal-like constellation of triangles, is meant to emphasise its man-made qualities—floating starkly just off the shore of Grote Vijver, the park's biggest pond.

SOFT DEMOCRACIES

Soft Democracies hat vom 01.-09. Juli im Olympiapark München alle Besucher_innen dazu eingeladen, an Gedankengebäuden mitzubauen, Utopien zu spinnen und neue demokratische Strukturen zu errichten. Die Installation wurde so zur Werkstatt für Formen der Teilhabe und deren Präsentation in der Öffentlichkeit.

Fake Estate

FAKE ESTATE was inspired by Gordon Matta Clark. It is an effective tool for urban practice, that reuses the platform of a damaged construction trailer. The new design was conceived to meet the definition of the Building Code for Berlin for buildings that do not require a permit (§61 BauOBerlin). It is a radical statement that Urban Practice is not based on property, we must think about it as agile and tactical. It is an active form that establishes a constant connection to its context and serves at the same time as protected space.

We are happy and honored and thankful to announce - raumlabor has been awarded the golden lion in the 17th architecture exhibition „how will we live together?“ in the venice biennale. The jury composed of Kazuyo Sejima (president, Japan), Sandra Barclay (Peru), Lamia Joreige (Lebanon), Lesley Lokko (Ghana-Scotland), Luca Molinari (Italy), elaborated: […] for an inspiring collaborative approach that argues for participation, regeneration and collective responsibility, resulting in two projects that are a model for imaginative civic revitalization. This award is for all the people that collaborated with us over the years, it’s for a way of doing architecture. we like to send our biggest thanks to everybody that contributed and contributes to this fluid being we call raumlabor. together, we can change things.

Making Futures School

Over the course of two weeks, over 150 participants took part in a diverse curriculum convened by practitioners in the field of spatial practices. Acting as a non-disciplinary learning environment, the School proposes, designs, builds, negotiates, maintains, performs and celebrates an educational and convivial space in and around Haus der Statistik, Berlin. At the same time, it becomes a dynamic actor within a process of urban transformation, serving as a common sphere of action between participants, neighbors and civic society.

Making Futures Bauhaus+

Making Futures Bauhaus+ is an action research project that addresses questions of architecture as a collective form and architecture as a resource. Departing from these two perspectives, it operates as an experimental research unit that advances future paths for architectural practice and education. It was initiated in 2018 as a cooperation between raumlabor and the Berlin University of the Arts on the occasion of the Bauhaus’ centenary.

Bunkers Delight

Noch immer arm, aber nicht mehr sexy! Hintergrund für diese Untersuchung ist die Studie ArtCityLab - Neue Räume für die Kunst, die 2012-14 in Kooperation mit der Senatsverwaltung für Stadtentwicklung und Umwelt und dem Berufsverband Bildender Künstler Berlin (bbk Berlin) entstand. Gegenstand der Untersuchung war grundlegende Veränderung des räumlichen Angebotes für künstlerische Produktion.

Zukunft Oberhafen Hamburg

Zwischen März und Juni 2017 führte raumlaborberlin im Auftrag der HafenCity Hamburg GmbH und der Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft ein dreistufiges Beteiligungsverfahren zur weiteren Entwicklung und Nutzung des überdachten ehemaligen Gleisfelds im innerstädtischen Oberhafen durch. Teilnehmende waren sowohl gegenwärtige und zukünftige Mieter*innen, die Stiftung Oberhafen i.Gr., Interessierte und Multiplikator*innen aus der Stadtgesellschaft sowie die Auftraggeber.

Goethe Na Vila

The Vila Itororó is an architectural ensemble of more than ten buildings created by Francisco de Castro over the course of the twentieth-century. The villa stands out for its unusual architecture in an urban Gap located on the banks of the Itororó Valley between the district Liberdade and Bela Vista in the downtown of Sāo Paulo. It was declared an area of public interest in 2006 after being abandoned for a while. Where after it was expropriated and converted into public usage for cultural purposes.
