Die Grosse Weltausstellung 2012

Die Große Weltausstellung 2012 is an exposition in 15 pavilions spread across the vast airfield. The project is our statement to the ongoing discussion about the future of the site. Together with HAU (Hebbel Theater Berlin) we´ve invited 15 directors, architects, installation- and performance-artists. They each developed a work for the site and for a pavilion designed by raumlabor.

Eichbaumpark


Eichbaumpark is the vision of a park in Mülheim/Ruhr. The park area is cut through the lanes of the highway interchange A40/B1 and the track line of the light rail line U18.

Eichbaumoper

Eichbaumoper characterises the temporary transformation of the metro station Eichbaum into an opera house. ‚Eichbaum’ is a crosspoint and station located between the cities of Essen and Mülheim. Once considered as a place of aspiration and hope, the ‚Eichbaum’ is now shaped by vandalism, fear and foreboding. Premiere: 24th of June, 2009

IBA STUDIO

Vom 26.01.-06.07.2011 wurden im IBA Studio in der Zollgarage des Flughafengebäude Tempelhof die Leitideen der IBA 2020 im Rahmen verschiedener Talk, Walks und Events öffentlich diskutiert. Mit ihrem Studio machte sich die IBA aktiv auf Partnersuche – offen für alle, die sich ernsthaft und kreativ einbringen wollen.

BXL


For the Todays Art Festival in Brussels, Raumlabor and a group of artists opened the Parc Grisar to the community for one week and organized a wood workshop and a bike building workshop.

CANTIERE BARCA

Barca today is a modern suburb of Torino without any significant attractions for the young people living there. The project aims at promoting youth creativity in a place where the conditions of young people are difficult. The workshop “Cantiere Barca” established a space of commiunication, common activity and discussion with young people from Barca and Bertolla in their neighborhood.

THE GENERATOR // BRNO PUBLIC STAGE

The Generator is an experimental building laboratory for instant, participatory building practices in public space. In Brno raumlabor built a Public Stage together with Students from the University of Applied Science and Arts Dortmund and the Faculty of architecture BUT / Brno University of technology.

Crossing Path SUPERBENCH

raumlabor installted the CROSSING PATH SUPER BENCH at the Public Design Festival in Milano. For few month, the CROSSING PATH SUPER BENCH ”institutionalized” an informal network of footpaths, right behind the train station Porta Garibaldi: An area like a piece of periphery right in the centre of Milano.

Eichbaum Countdown


Subway-station Eichbaum between Essen and Mülheim/Ruhr is an urban spot of spatial deficiency, that has to be converted in near future. The project “Eichbaum Countdown” adresses to young people of the neighborhood, who are connected to the Eichbaum-station.

Markthalle IX

We are working on the vision for a contemporary market hall in Berlin. The Market Hall IX, located in Kreuzberg, between Eisenbahn- and Pücklerstr. should be again retransformed into the economic and social center for the neighborhood.

IBA Berlin 2020

Das „Prae-IBA-Team“, bestehen aus sieben interdisziplinär arbeitenden Experten und Expertinnen, entwickelte im Austausch mit der Projektgruppe der Senatsverwaltung für Stadtentwicklung das Vorkonzept IBA BERLIN ZWANZIG ZWANZIG. Auf der Grundlage dieser Leitideen entstand bis Mitte 2011 in einem Diskussionsprozess im IBA Studio mit vielen Beteiligten ein Konzeptvorschlag für die Durchführung der IBA Berlin 2020.

Spacebuster interacts with the architectural and the social space and its conditions. It opens urban space for temporary collective uses.

Aktivierende Stadtentwicklung / Flughafen Tempelhof

When we started to imagine ways for the tempelhof airfiled to develop into the future, it was still used as an airport. This no-go condition made it difficult for many to imagine this giant and perfectly centrally located field to become an organic part of the city. The strategy focusses on the first steps and the first five years, but suggests frameworks and strategic organisational bodies, that could drive the transformation process in the long term.
